Individual Support Program
Individual Support Program provides personalized, one-on-one assistance for Ukrainian refugees and immigrants in Michigan who are navigating life in the U.S. Our goal is to reduce stress, confusion, and barriers by offering practical guidance tailored to each individual or family’s situation.

We support community members as they adapt to new systems, access essential resources, and make informed decisions with confidence and clarity.
Past & Foundational Support
Since the beginning of displacement, UASMI has provided direct individual assistance to Ukrainians adjusting to life in Michigan. Through one-on-one consultations, we have helped community members understand documentation processes, access local resources, and navigate unfamiliar systems during moments of uncertainty.

This foundational work has built trust and demonstrated the importance of personalized support—where individuals feel heard, understood, and guided at their own pace.

Current Initiatives & Focus Areas
Today, our Individual Support Program continues to evolve in response to real community needs. Based on direct requests and lived experiences, we currently provide support in the following areas:
-
One-on-one assistance with documents and forms related to life in the U.S.
-
Guidance on accessing local resources, services, and community organizations.
-
Support with adaptation challenges, including understanding systems, appointments, and next steps.
-
Individual navigation support for families, parents, seniors, and newly arrived community members.
-
Referrals to trusted partners and professionals when specialized support is needed.
Our approach is practical, respectful, and culturally sensitive—focused on empowering individuals rather than overwhelming them.

Our Commitment
We are committed to meeting people where they are. Individual Support is not about giving generic instructions, but about walking alongside community members as they build stability and confidence in a new environment.
By offering consistent, compassionate, and reliable one-on-one support, we aim to reduce isolation, ease transitions, and help Ukrainians in Michigan feel supported as they move forward.
